WE'RE KICKING OFF THE FIRST EVER CHESS RIOT!!
Hi, I'm Coach Matt (aka Benjamin Blundercheck), the culprit behind the Monday night HRCA Peninsula Satellite Chess Club meetings.
Please Join me at my home in Hampton on Sunday June 12 for a one-of-a-kind house party/chess tournament/cookout/rock show/fundraiser/all-around family-friendly blast of a day! And we'll party into the night!

Chess fanatics, music lovers, party-goers unite! We will have daytime and night-time tournaments, casual and US Chess rated, as well as learning and for-fun boards. And between rounds, we will have LIVE ENTERTAINMENT throughout the day and evening!
All the way from Boston, MA, we have rockers Chris OG and the Dopameanies with Justin Arena!
From right here in Hampton we have grunge-grass pickers Tornado Bait (with Msesippi the chess clown)!
Finally, Sam and I will bring our new chess-rock act into the scene with a blast! We are Benjamin Blundercheck and the Poisoned Pawn!! This will be your first chance to hear our brand new repertoire of chess-themed music and I'm stoked to bring it to you at the first ever CHESS RIOT!
What is a Chess Riot, you ask? All of the above, with rated and casual tournament formats of five total games, each with 15 minutes on the clock for both sides (G/15; d5). The main difference is that registrants should be forewarned that there will not be silence at this event! Whether live music or a streaming playlist, there will be music pumping, and the tournaments will be held in a backyard party/cookout atmosphere. Rated games will be kept inside for the most part, but the music will still be audible. Earplugs will not be provided!! Bring your own if you'd like and we will not be offended!
Standard cookout food will be served to guests throughout the day and evening. The daytime tournament and event is all ages until 6:00. After 6:00, the second tournament and party is ages 21 and up only and alcohol will be served. Before 6:00 please help family friendliness by keeping alcohol in unmarked cups or containers.
This is a fundraiser event, and the majority of proceeds will be donated to the Hampton Roads Chess Association! I sincerely hope families and friends from all around will join me for this pioneering event!

Entry fee for each tournament registrant and up to two guests - Includes tournament entry (for one person), food/beverages, and live entertainment for up to three people: $25 Donation (killer deal)
Entry fee for anyone not entering the tournament and not a free guest: $10 Donation each or $25 Donation per family (includes food/beverages/entertainment - also quite a deal).
EXCLUSIVE oversized 3D-Printed Blundercheck Riot Medallions will be awarded to 1st 2nd and 3rd place in each tournament section!
Limit of 20 entrants maximum for each tournament section. That is 20 for rated, and 20 for casual. for both afternoon and evening tournaments. (total of 80 registrants)

12:30: arrive for check-in
1:00: Riot Tournament begins (casual and rated)
6:00: Ages 21+ ONLY
6:30 - Evening Riot Tournament begins (causal and rated)
