Canal Club
1545 E Cary St, Richmond, Virginia 23219

From the original Facebook Event:

The ROCKITZ 35th Reunion will take place Saturday, October 5 at the Canal Club in Richmond, Virginia.

The founders and fans of the legendary Richmond club will gather to celebrate the great times and fabulous live music as bands from the day perform. On the bill are the Limit, The Non Dairy Screamers, Waking Hours, Club Zomby, The Dads Tribute Band, A Liberal Dose, Deprogrammers, and more to be announced. Flyers from the shows will be displayed.

ROCKITZ opened in 1984 and closed in 1987, and was located at 727 West Broad Street near V.C.U. on the corner of Laurel Street. It featured local and national bands almost every night, plus a very popular dance night hosted by Randall B.

Tower of Power, Bo Diddly, Suzanne Vega, Patty Smith, The Ventures, Modern English, Dead Milkmen, Henry Rollins and Black Flag, The Call, The Replacements, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Willie Dixon, Wendy O. Williams, Albert Collins, Pinetop Perkins, Brandon Marcelis, Sam Kinison, Emo Philips, Suzanne Vega, Big Audio Dynamite, John Mayall, Robert Gordon, Circle Jerks, C.O.C., 10,000 Maniacs, Chuck Berry, Husker Du, GWAR, Bad Brains, The Fleshtones and hundreds more famous regional and national acts played the venue, which could only pack in 400 or so people.
It was founded by Bill Kitchen, Randall B. Plaxa & David Hudert, with many volunteers and investors contributing vital resources.

All proceeds go to offset costs to video, record, and photograph local bands, continuing the mission of ROCKITZ. More than 3,000 local band clips have been uploaded in the past twenty years, and many more are in archives. The videos help bands get new fans and secure gigs, in addition to archiving their work safely for future use. Since its founding, ROCKITZ has always been focused on supporting Richmond music, and the video project continues the mission.

The Canal Club is located at 1545 East Cary Street Richmond, VA 23219. Doors open at 5 PM. The first 200 tickets are on sale for $10 in advance so get yours today!
