THE MERCY ALLIANCE is an indie-rock trio led by Joe Rathbone, a seasoned songwriter, singer, and guitar player based in Washington, D.C., who has garnered a reputation for his lyrically rich, musically layered, song-driven studio albums. Both as a solo performer and a bandleader, he has brought his image-filled songs and evocative melodies to venues up and down the East Coast and across the country.
Bassist Dan Avant and drummer Matt Francis (both veterans of the Richmond and Hampton Roads, Virginia, indie scene as former members of Egghunt Records’ Feral Conservatives) provide an energetic and dynamic rhythm section propping up Joe’s big guitar sound. Their live shows feature great grooves, ear-catching choruses, bold guitar solos, and a passionate, positive vibe..
